Juvenile Defense

Phoenix Juvenile Defense - Underage DUI - Fake ID

Contact the Arizona criminal defense lawyers at the Weingart Law Firm  in Tempe if one of your children is in trouble with the law. While we represent juveniles accused of any offense, including crimes of violence that are generally charged and tried in adult court, our attorneys focus particularly on the defense of underage DUI and other alcohol-related or motor vehicle violations that can result in suspension or revocation of the offender's driver's license until he or she turns 21.

Our objectives in any juvenile defense situation are to minimize criminal liability, protect the young person's future prospects through sealed records of criminal adjudication, and where appropriate, to engage community-based treatment programs that will divert the case away from the criminal justice system.

For the most serious felonies, such as homicide or other dangerous crimes, including certain motor vehicle offenses, it is very likely that the young defendant will be tried as an adult. Where the facts will support opposition to adult certification or a motion for waiver to juvenile court, our skilled litigators can present the strongest case possible for avoiding exposure to the most severe adult criminal consequences.

More frequently, our juvenile defense attorneys  are asked to represent young people on such less serious offenses as dining and dashing, minor in possession or consumption of alcohol, or drug possession offenses. We have considerable experience with representing Arizona State University students and other young people between the ages of 18 and 21 on charges such as underage DUI, possession or use of a fake ID, and other alcohol-related charges. In Arizona, conviction of these offenses can result in sanctions such as suspension of a drivers license for periods ranging from six months to two years.

The Weingart Law Firm has received the AV rating* under Martindale-Hubbell's peer review rating system, and founding member Mark Weingart helped create the National College of DUI Defense. Representation of those accused of DUI and other serious motor vehicle charges has formed a core of our practice for 20 years. Our comprehensive knowledge of both the law and the most effective defense techniques in drunk driving cases represents a powerful advantage for our youthful DUI and fake ID clients.

We also represent young alcohol and motor vehicle defendants from out of state. In many cases, we can resolve the charges without the need for the defendant to return to Arizona through waiver of appearance.
